The Virginia State Anatomical Program (VSAP) is a division of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, part of the Virginia Department of Health. VSAP is the centralized Virginia donor program, with whom all persons wishing to donate their body to science communicate. VSAP receives all accepted donors, distributes them to institutions in need, and returns the cremated remains back to the donor’s families when the institution has finished their study with the donor.
The VAAB works closely with VSAP to communicate issues on the user’s end, and advise ways in which VSAP can better serve Virginia’s institutions. VSAP representatives attend annual meetings hosted by VAAB so that representatives can meet each other, and ensure there is communication between VSAP and every institution it serves.
